Kurt Cobain Owned & Played Authentic Hagstrom Blue Sparkle Deluxe Nirvana Guitar | Entertainment Memorabilia, Other Entertainment Mem | eBay!
In celebration of Kurt Cobain’s extraordinary life and contributions to music, vintage guitar shop Black Book Guitars offers one of the late Nirvana frontman’s guitars.
Additionally 10% of the auction sales will be donated to Transition Projects, a Portland-based non-profit organization that helps the city’s homeless transition to steady housing.
Cobain played this Hagstrom Blue Sparkle Deluxe in the early-1990s. After his death, Courtney Love gave the instrument to one of Cobain’s friends, who also happened to play in a prominent Northwest band. Nineteen years later and rarely played, it made its way to Black Book Guitars, where Fasold was able authenticate it twice. Both authentication documents will be provided with the guitar.
George Gruhn, the world’s leading expert on vintage guitars, confirms, “We certify the guitar described below is, in our opinion, a Hagstrom Deluxe model 90 – P – 46 made during the period 1958 through 1960.”
Additionally, Nirvana’s guitar technician Earnie Bailey asserted that the guitar was indeed Cobain’s. He says, “I have inspected this vintage Hagstrom guitar and confirm it to be one that I purchased and converted to left handed orientation for Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.”
Bailey continues, “In late 1992, [Cobain] was staying at the Inn at the Market in Seattle, and called to ask me if I could find him this specific model. After locating this one, I told him of several other 1960s Italian-made sparkle finish guitars in local shops, and he requested that I buy every one that I could find…After delivering the guitars to his hotel room, he stated that he was keeping the Hagstrom as a Christmas gift to himself, and giving the remaining guitars away to his friends.”
